# Authentic Afghan Saffron
> Authentic Afghan Saffron sells single-origin Super Negin saffron from Herat, Afghanistan, direct to customers in the United States. All threads are all-red stigma tips with the yellow style cut away, harvest-dated on every jar, and never blended with saffron from other origins. Independent ISO 3632 testing is underway and the certificate will be published on the Lab Report page when it is issued.

- Grade: Super Negin — all-red threads, yellow style removed
- Harvest: hand-picked at dawn over a ~2 week window each autumn; ~150 flowers per gram
- Herat saffron has been ranked the world's best by the International Taste Institute for ten consecutive years (most recent: January 2026)
- Iranian saffron cannot legally be imported into the United States; Afghan saffron is the legal premium alternative
- Typical use: 3-5 threads per cup of tea, 15-20 threads for a dish serving four
- One gram is roughly 250 threads, about 60 cups of tea or 10-15 family dishes
- Lab testing status: ISO 3632 testing underway, results not yet published
